Second Opinion 2.34.0

New Overlay Design Refresh and Enhanced Pediatrics Caries Model
10/02/2025

New Features

New Overlay Design Refresh- Global*

  • We’ve refreshed the overlay experience with lower-opacity pathology overlays and an improved hover interaction for caries, making it easier to review findings at a glance.
  • Offices can now update overlay colors for key pathologies in the Customize Interface settings. A selection of predefined color options is available to match office preferences and improve readability.
    • Default colors remain available, and offices can reset to defaults at any time.
  • Why it matters-
    • Improved Clarity: Colors can be adjusted to match your office workflow, making overlays easier to read.
    • Consistency Across Teams: Once colors are saved, all users in your office see the same overlays.
  • You’ll notice refreshed overlays with improved visibility for caries and new options to customize pathology colors in your settings throughout the next couple of weeks. These changes help make findings easier to review and match your office preferences.

Enhanced Pediatric Model- Global*

  • Second Opinion now includes an enhanced pediatric model designed to make reviewing pediatric x-rays clearer. This update focuses on the findings that matter most for children, helping dentists confidently identify and manage caries. Users will notice the enhanced pediatric caries model being deployed to their account throughout the next couple of weeks. We have updated the following-
    • Pediatric-specific analysis: When a pediatric patient is detected (age <12 or mixed dentition), Second Opinion automatically applies the pediatric model.
    • Simplified findings: Only caries are shown in the Pathology section, with adult-only findings like bone measurements, calculus, or periapical radiolucencies suppressed.
    • Updated tooth parts view: For pediatric images, only the enamel and dentin is highlighted, showing the most relevant findings for pediatric patients.
    • Clinician override: If a mixed dentition image is misclassified, doctors can switch to the adult view to see all findings for that image. The system will remember the selection.

The following is what we plan on releasing in the next 30 days:

Second Opinion

  • Enhanced pediatric caries detections (Standalone only)
  • Indication of how caries has progressed within the enamel

Practice Intelligence
